Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur on Thursday launched a hassle-free online parking and parking reservation mobile app. With the launch of the “MyParkings” app, the Union government hopes to resolve parking issues and vehicle parking congestion in South Delhi. “Parking is a tough problem and this app is an effort to reduce stress and help people better plan their trips,” Thakur said at the launch event, which was also attended by Mukkesh Suryaan, Mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC); Gyanesh Bharti, Commissioner, SDMC and George Kuruvilla, CMD, BECIL.

Here’s everything you need to know about the app:

-Not only the app will provide Delhi people with smart parking solution but also help reduce pollution caused by vehicles as it will minimize the time spent looking for parking spots.

-This app was developed by Broadcast Engineering Consultants India Limited (BECIL) together with SDMC with the aim of digitizing all authorized parking lots under the municipal boundaries of the civic body, according to a report by PTI.

-Activated with IoT technology, the “MyParkings” application will be available for mobile applications on Android and iOS platforms.

-People can book parking in South Delhi on site or in advance using the app. They will also have the option of selecting slots.

-Among other features, the app will also give people the ability to check-in and out of vehicles paperless, shared parking for safety and recall, view amenities and facilities in and at near parking spaces.

-The app will provide options for electric vehicle charging stations and card integration with DTC / Delhi metro; smart QR code for slot booking, check-in and payment and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system.

-Anurag Thakur hopes other Delhi municipal companies will also adopt similar solutions for hassle-free parking.
