How to Celebrate Independent Bookstore Day Around Tampa Bay

Independent Bookstore Day celebrations will have you turning pages all over the Tampa Bay this week.

  • The official day is Saturday, April 30.

How to celebrate: Lakeland is hosting the city’s first Book Crawl, with five stores offering a different discount each day this week.

Oxford Exchange in Tampa has its annual Book Fair on Thursday evenings, with publications by more than 40 local authors and writing workshops.

  • Bring in gently used K-12 books to benefit the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s Teaching Aids Store.

Saturday celebrations also take place in St. Pete, Safety Harbor, Venice and Winter Haven.

  • raffle will be have exclusive merchandise, special gift items and a children’s book sale.
  • Portkey will have story and craft time for children, a reading and meeting with local authors Aramis Calderon, Steve Kistulentz and Noel Zamot and a yoga and haiku writing workshop.
  • books of fables will be have exclusive IBD gifts and products.
  • Writer’s block will be organize a scavenger hunt and in-store readings.
