Daring thief continues to steal from Northwest Houston dollar store despite knowing employee was checking him in, HPD says

HOUSTON – Houston police released video of a man they say knew an employee was recording his every move, but ignored him because he stole several items from a North Side dollar store. west of town.

Video recorded around 10:10 a.m. on May 3 shows a man entering a dollar store in the 5700 block of Hollister. An employee recognized the man as a frequent shoplifter and began recording him with his cell phone, police said.

Police said the thief placed several items in his backpack while threatening to shoot employees if they tried to arrest him. He then walked out of the store with his backpack full of unpaid merchandise, with some items falling to the ground. He then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The suspect is believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, about 5ft 10in to 6ft tall and weighs 200 to 220lbs. He wore a black shirt and brown camo pants.
