Canastota Public Library Launches Fundraiser

CANASTOTA — This Valentine’s Day, people can show their support for the Canastota Public Library as the organization hosts its “Show Your Home a Little Love” fundraiser.

As part of the event, the library will raffle off four prizes, including:

-Three side chairs that have been restored by the Caners Library;

-A book table that can be used as a side table, bedside table or plant stand;

-A Tiffany-style pendant light; and

-An oil painting of a beach scene by artist Agnes Whitmeyer.

All items will be displayed in the library on the first floor, near the circulation desk. Raffle tickets will be available at the counter for $1 each or 6 for $5. Tickets will be available from February 14. The winners will be drawn on February 14 at the close of business.

This fundraiser will benefit the library’s partnership with The Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Thanks to the DPIL, children from birth to 5 years old can receive an age-appropriate book through the Dolly Parton Foundation. The book is sent directly to the child’s home. There are currently over 300 children in this very successful early literacy program. While the Dolly Parton Foundation offsets most of the costs for this program, the library is responsible for some of the cost of the book as well as postage. The library costs more than $7,000 a year to provide this program to children who live in the 13032 zip code.

The Canastota Public Library is located at 102. W. Center Street in Canastota. The library has been providing services to the community since 1896.
