Boxer Golf takes eighth place at NWC Spring Classic

LAKEWOOD, Wash.- The University of the Pacific women’s golf team took on all nine schools in the Northwest Conference this weekend in the NWC Spring Classic. The event was hosted by the University of Puget Sound at Oakbrook Golf Club in Lakewood, Washington.

The Boxers played consistently over the two days shooting 421 on day one before dropping to 418 on day two. The improvement helped the Boxers maintain their position in the team standings, earning them an eighth-place finish by the end of the event.

Avery Arnold (Sophomore/Chewelah, WA) led the way for the Boxers with a T-24 finish. She was able to move up three positions in the standings after a 92 on day two, which was a six-stroke improvement from the first round.

Sydnie Matsuda (Freshman/Kahului, HI) had a consistent weekend en route to finishing in 30and. In the first round with intense winds, Matsuda shot 105 before struggling in the second round to shoot 104.

Brynn Barber (Freshman/Boise, ID) had the best of college on Saturday when she shot a 103 to open the event. On day two, she shot a 107 while recording her first birdie of the year.

Ensley McClellan-Tedrow (Freshman/Ferndale, WA) completed the Boxers roster resulting in a 40and arrival point.


The Boxers will conclude the season on April 23rd and 24and at the NWC Championship in Salem at the Creekside Golf Club.
