Book Manufacturers’ Institute publishes report on the state of the book industry in 2021

Bradenton, Florida – The Book Manufacturers’ Institute (BMI) released the State of the Book Industry Report this year to educate supply chain business leaders on current market data and emerging trends. Last year’s report was written as numerous COVID lockdowns had started. It was difficult to make predictions about what the rest of 2020 would look like. Now that we have fully entered 2021, this year’s report looks back on a year like no other and shows what is to come.

The full report is offered free of charge as a benefit to BMI members; interested parties in the printing industry can request a summary by contacting BMI directly.

Topics covered in the State of the Book Industry 2021 report include:

General economic trends and statistics
Factors affecting book manufacturers, such as employment
Key trends in readership, consumption and demand for books
Top management issues for bookmakers in 2021

“Last year was a year that many of us would like to forget. New challenges arose every week. As we move forward, economic and labor trends, as well as supply chain issues, will greatly affect our industry. The 2021 State of the Book Industry Report provides some context and a good perspective on where we are today, ”said Matt Baehr, Executive Director of BMI.

The report is part of BMI’s 2021 annual research program which is sponsored by Lakeside Book Company, Lindenmeyr Paper, Rolland, Canon, HP, Core Publishing Solutions, Crown Van Gelder, Muller Martini and Screen USA.
